Newcastle United Releases Away Kit
By Bryan Nelson
We know what Newcastle United is going to look like at home, but now we know what they’re going to look like when they’re the away team. Newcastle United has just released their away kits for the 2015/2016 season, and I’ll admit, they’re nice. What is upsetting though, is it seems the classic black and white stripe is no longer a major part of Newcastle’s look, and that’s depressing for those of us who bleed the black and white. If you are really bleeding black and white, call your doctor.
Before I show you a picture, let’s work on my description skills. It’s a white shirt, with a sky blue trim. It has some weird geometric lines on it. It has a Wonga logo. And now I give up, and this is what it looks like.
While the shirt has some nice aesthetics, it’s not the same shirt that we’re used to seeing. Puma is still the main sponsor of the Newcastle kits, and I’m not going to lie, the shirt is quite eye catching. Still embarrassing that the Wonga logo is not the most recent one.
But don’t worry, if you aren’t very into the new kits that Newcastle has released, there’s a third option! It’s not the alternate shirts, which I haven’t seen yet. It’s the Magpie Shirt, created by a Newcastle United supporters group, to fight against the new designs, as well as mark of solidarity against Mike Ashley’s Newcastle United regime. We wrote about it just a couple days ago.
As much as I like the away kit, the home kit is actually quite a jumble of colors. It would seem that Newcastle is attempting to change its image from the black and white stripes, to a different color scheme. Many teams are moving towards a more bright aesthetic, and Newcastle seems to be joining that movement.
But again, if you can’t stand these, feel free to buy yourself the Magpie Shirt, however, I’ve heard they sold out.
