I’ve been talking about Newcastle taking advantage of their youth system. It’s important that Newcastle gives their young players a chance as wen need some fresh faces at St. James Park. While Coloccini and Papiss Cisse are nice to have on the pitch, wouldn’t you love to see some newer faces take over the field?

Adam Armstrong is one of my examples. And trust I have a lot more to come. But let’s stick to him right now. Adam Armstrong has been unused since January. Why? Because John Carver is pandering to Newcastle United’s conservative approach, and fear of putting some young players on the senior squad to get some experience.
But that fear needs to wiped away and put in a place that no one else can see it. Newcastle cannot be afraid of their youth, and instead they should embrace it. I’m not the only one who thinks this way. But I think I’m the only one pushing it profusely.

The Top Flight
Ayoze Perez has not seen as much action as he deserves. He’s been going further than he has to in order to produce for his team, and I think that he could bring that kind of tenacity to the pitch at St. James Park. But why isn’t John Carver using him? If John Carver wants to keep his job, then he better take advantage of what he has rather than say the losses are a result of injured players and suspensions. At least look like you’re trying!
That’s exactly what we are not seeing from Carver. He wants to look like he knows what he’s doing, and while he may being held back by Newcastle United management, sometimes he needs to step up and say what he wants. Right now, Newcastle seems content on using the same players every match for the rest of their sad lives.

Newcastle United
But Newcastle is better than that. You know it, I know it, and management probably doesn’t but I hope they do! Without taking advantage of what you have in the ranks, you’re sacrificing future success. The longer those guys stay in the reserve squads, the less developed that they will become. I know this very well. I used to be a very good hockey player, but when I played in a league that was too easy for me and I dominated, I got lazy, and my skill suffered because of it. When I moved up to where I wanted to be, it was too late, and I became more of a utility player than the star I used to be.
It hurts the development of those players. Newcastle management is risking the careers of these youngsters because they’re playing it too safe. It’s time for Newcastle United to take a risk. We really have nothing else to lose.
