Newcastle United to Face Struggling Everton

facebooktwitterreddit

Today, Newcastle United takes on struggling Everton. If you think Newcastle is doing bad, just look at Everton. They haven’t won a single home game yet this season, a struggle that Newcastle should take advantage of. But today is also Newcastle’s first game following Papiss Cisse’s seven-match suspension after the spitting incident with Manchester United’s Jonny Evans. The issue was being called spit-gate because every controversy has to end with “gate” now. If I fart in a restaurant, get ready for fart-gate, it’s going to get crazy.

But all humor aside, it’s important to understand that without Cisse, Newcastle is out their top striker, and one who has the highest goals per minute in the entire Premier League. So without Cisse, could Newcastle blow this great opportunity to pick up a win? It is very possible, and something to be wary of going into this match at Goodison Park.

These are all my guesses based on the predictions that I have read, and I could be wrong. But we’ll see in the upcoming match who will actually be playing.

So who should we watch today?

Lukaku is definitely one to keep an eye on. In five Premier League matches against Newcastle United, Lukaku has scored four goals. So can he keep putting it past the Tyneside goalkeepers or can Newcastle hold him off to have him going back to the locker room with nothing?

Another player to watch is Ayoze Perez. this will be one of his few starts this season, and it will give him a chance to really show John Carver, and Newcastle United fans what he has in store for us. The 21 year old should be filling in for now suspended Papiss Cisse, and he’s going to have some big shoes to fill. Today will be one for him to take advantage of, especially against a struggling squad like Everton.

    What does this match mean?

This match means a lot, and for both teams as well. Everton is still looking for their first home game win of the season, while Newcastle is looking to move up the table and get ready for a few matches without their top striker. Everton is in a tough position, and they’re looking to improve their season as it has been nothing short of a mediocre season thus far.

But can we really say anything different about Newcastle United? Not really. This season has also been extremely lackluster and has had nothing for fans to be excited about. The win against Chelsea was perhaps the most exciting thing I’ve seen Newcastle do this season. But if Newcastle can take on Everton today with a fierce offense and a stout defense, they can build up some morale for the next couple of matches.

But previews can only do so much. It’s the match reviews that really tell us how we should look to the future. And as we gear up for the game that starts within the next hour, all we can do is speculate.
