According to recent reports, Newcastle United will not be sold any time soon.

Newcastle United and manager Rafa Benitez are in the early stages of the summer transfer period, and the club will aim for an even better performance following 2017-18’s tenth-place finish. Takeover talks have been a constant during the past year, but now seem to have taken a negative turn after positive news.

After negotiations between Toon owner Mike Ashley and PCP Capital Partners were set to be re-newed, The Mirror reported this weekend that any potential deal for the purchase of Newcastle United is set to crumble. The key aspect to this is with the overall price.

After recently asking for £350 million to complete the transaction, Ashley is believed to have now increased the figure to £400 million.

The investment group led by Amanda Staveley has been working for several months to get an agreement in place, only to see multiple obstacles get in the way.

Benitez’s future on Tyneside has been unclear as well, and this development will not help to confirm his long-term intentions at St. James’ Park.

Despite what may be said and how things appear on the surface, Ashley is ultimately out to ensure that he makes as much money as possible in selling the club.

The end

It has been a long time since the 53-year-old businessman was drinking in the stands, and the situation has only steadily become worse for supporters.

Staveley and her group were poised to open a new chapter for the Magpies, but Ashley’s bizarre demands are destroying any chance of securing a sale.

The owner wants the final amount to be as much as possible, and the Toon’s success is not really a top priority.

Newcastle United and Rafa Benitez thought that a takeover could be on the horizon. Instead, nothing is ready to be any different in the North East.
