Newcastle United’s new kit leaked?

In a post by footy headlines, they shared rumors of what appears to be a leaked version of Newcastle United’s newest kit by Puma. The kits for the 2015-2016 season were met with mixed reviews but these new shirts look promising, as if they’re trying to hold true to the black and white  stripes that define the history and makeup of Newcastle United.

I think the shirt actually looks quite nice compared to the contemporary shirts that made a mistake about Wonga’s logo, and had an alternative shirt that was actually my favorite compared to the home and away shirts that were just off the mark in terms of Newcastle’s typical look.

I’ve also always had a problem with Newcastle United allowing itself to be sponsored by payday lenders, which is a controversial topic right now, and in my opinion has no place on a shirt. Wonga has been criticized for their lending practices, and their sky-high interest rates.

But Wonga will continue to sponsor the club until either party feels it is necessary to end the relationship. Which means next season we’re still going to have to deal with seeing a Wonga logo on the club’s matchday shirts. But don’t worry, many believe that next season will be the last Wonga sponsors the club.

The gold is a nice touch to the uniform, as it compliments the Puma logo on the strips of the jersey. It makes for a nice finish. Ironically, they’re calling it “victory gold”. Seeing as Newcastle United won nothing but a one-way ticket to the Championship, the gold isn’t deserved. But it looks wonderful.

If this is the home kit, I’m not opposed to it at all. Hopefully, the away and alternate kits will be as aesthetically pleasing as this one. The color palette of last season’s kits were a bit off and didn’t stick to the culture of the club’s historical black and white stripes.
