There will be a lot of discourse about Nico Gonzalez following that victory over Tottenham Hotspur, and rightly so it must be said.
There will also be a lot of discourse around both Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga given their heroics which have already placed them on an infinitely higher pedestal than they managed last season.
But perhaps the man I think deserves the most praise for the way the first part of this season has gone is one who may not quite get the same recognition as those I have mentioned who have grabbed the media headlines thus far.
That is none other than out very own Lewis Miley.
The Newcastle United pathway that has opened for Lewis Miley
Whilst the headline of this article is of course tongue in cheek (at least right now anyway...), the sheer quality of both of Lewis Miley's performances in the Premier League so far this season genuinely does raise serious questions about just how high his ceiling may be.
Now we as Newcastle fans have known about his quality ever since he broke into the first team. But, with an injury hit period of late and some big name players keeping him from regular minutes, even we didn't really have a palatable understanding of just what he may become.
But this summer has finally seen the playing pathway open up properly to a point where Miley will likely be a stalwart this season.
That has of course been in part because of players who were ahead of him departing, like Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, but it has just as much been because the entire club's focus has shifted toward prioritising the development of younger players.
How he has grasped the opportunity with both hands
If we are all being honest, we may have thought that Miley would be one of those starting double pivot options when casting eyes upon the squad prior to Liverpool. But with new signings being brought in too, it wasn't a definite that we'd see him playing 90 minutes every week.
But, with the arrival of Matthias Jaissle and the subsequent adoration which has blossomed for the 20-year-old midfielder courtesy of his new boss, Miley has already made the spot his own.
One can only assume that his attitude, application in training and character among the squad are what informed that decision - and boy has he made that decision pay off thus far.
Miley has looked elegant in his performances, gliding through game both in and out of possession and providing quality to the Magpies' play in almost every phase of build up.
And that was none more present than in the Spurs game today.
Who needs Tonali anyway
Many fans were of the opinion that Newcastle United fans were just 'coping' when we told everyone that that £100m for Sandro Tonali was absolutely outrageous and we weren't that worried about losing him.
The reason for the latter of those two feelings we had was simply because we knew we had Lewis Miley waiting to takt the torch. A sentiment which the 20-year-old proved in abundance today.
Miley played alongside new man Nico Gonzalez in a double pivot and when I tell you I'm not sure I've ever seen a more balance midfield, I'm being deadly serious.
Gonzalez almost played like a quarterback, receiving from the centre backs to play forward, whilst Miley often sat on the next line and was primarily tasked with keeping the ball ticking and providing the foundation to prevent transitional turnovers.
But Miley showed his ability to involve himself in rotations too and he frequently took up that role from Gonzalez and received to play forward, something which hasn't necessarily been seen as the strongest part of his game thus far, albeit he often played shorter than his counterpart.
His comfortability on the ball, willingness to take risks to break lines, and his maturity to cover when the ball was turned over were all staples of his performance today.
In fact, if you compare his performance in the six to Tonali's on the Tottenham side, it was quote literally night and day. Again, Tonali who was sold for £100m by the way.
Miley set for the big time
The only downside of Miley's top drawer performances are that, if he keeps it up, the big boys will come sniffing before long.
In fact, even just this summer there were rumours circling that PSG may have been interested in signing Miley and that was even before he proved he's a Ballon d'Or candidate in the making (yes, I'm sticking with it).
So if that's the case, give it a year or two and it will be almost impossible to remain in possession of Miley, especially given his unique profile as a number six, a position notoriously short of top talent in today's game.
On a positive note we will get to watch him for that period, and probably come away with a more than hefty fee if he does ever move on - god forbid.
The rather funny thing about it is, if that happens, Newcastle United will be responsible for two of the top midfield players in world football... not bad for a little club in the North East of England... is it?
