- Newcastle Star Kieran Trippier has been associated with a potential transfer move for quite a long time.
- As per reports, Istanbul Basaksehir has prepared an offer for the veteran full-back, Trippier.
Newcastle United have started their 2024/25 campaign on a high, securing 7 points off their first 3 fixtures. Managing 2 wins and a crucial draw in the Premier League so far, the Magpies club has ranked 5th in the points table. But, certainly, everything hasn't been going as the club's plans, with their performance still far their best and the club on the fear of losing out on veteran stars.
Turkish club enters the race for veteran Newcastle star Trippier
Not to forget, in the last two weeks of the summer transfer window, rumors were flooded everywhere, linking Newcastle's veteran full-back to a potential move. While the conclusion of the signing period in the major European Leagues might sound relieving for Magpies club, in some other competitions, it's still going on.
Frustrated of losing first the captain's armband and now his starter spot to the young Tino Livramento, Trippier might be willing to still make a move. Moreover, as per reports from journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir has stepped in with an offer for the veteran right-back Kieran Trippier.
In fact, not only Istanbul Basaksehir but certain other Super Lig clubs have shown significant interest in finalizing Trippier's deal before their window closes on September 13th. Sources indicate that Fenerbahce and Eyupspor have also made inquiries to Newcastle to take Trippier on loan with an option to buy.
However, with an offer ready for Trippier, Istanbul Basaksehir stands as the current favorites in the full-back's deal. While Basaksehir was crowned the Turkish Champions in the season 2019/20, the club has failed to replicate it and thus believes that Trippier's addition could be crucial to their chances of getting hold of the title again.
Analyzing from Newcastle's perspective, losing an experienced veteran like Trippier could prove fatal for the Magpies club going forward, and thus, as Eddie Howe suggests, they would try to keep him. But, for the 33-year-old, the deal wouldn't sound that off. Having announced his retirement from England, Trippier wouldn't want to lose on game-time in club football, and thus, a move to Istanbul Basaksehir might seem appealing to him.
Overall, even though further updates are yet to arrive regarding Newcastle's response to Trippier's move, chances are that the veteran might end up away from Newcastle this summer. Having a potential chance to get regular minutes, in addition to a chance at the Europa League, Trippier might make a move.
