Talking point #1 - Only one point separates Newcastle vs Manchester United

The Premier League table is the tightest it's been for a long time. There are still many teams who could still compete for the title and nothing is stopping Newcastle or Manchester United from going on a great run and doing that.

For now though, Erik ten Hag and Eddie Howe will focus on this game only. Man United are ahead of Newcastle but by a point only. With that in mind, we could be in for an exciting evening of attacking football, with both teams desperate to win to make some ground on the other.

Talking point #2 - Both sides are missing key players

It's almost impossible to address Newcastle at the moment without mentioning their obvious injury crisis. Eddie Howe is without several of his key players. Key players such as Sandro Tonali (suspension), Callum Wilson, Dan Burn and Sven Botman (injury) are ruled out of this one.

However, it would be unfair to mention Newcastle's injury concerns without mentioning Manchester United's injury concerns. Erik ten Hag will be without Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in this fixture. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how both teams lineup - See our preview for a prediction of the lineups.

Talking point #3 - Quick turnaround of fixtures, but advantage Newcastle

Both sides were involved in Champions League action in midweek, but Newcastle have had an extra day to prepare for this meeting. Although one extra day of training may not seem like much, we have seen countless times in the EPL that games can be decided by minuscule margins, so this micro-advantage could be the difference between Newcastle being that little bit better prepared.
