The Premier League action is getting back to its top heat, with the mania nearing the conclusion of the 2nd matchday. While some clubs have continued their dominating run in English football, others were somewhat lucky to bag 3 points from the fixture. The best example of the second category has been Howe's Newcastle, who, despite being at their topmost level, have 3 points from the PL opener.

While some stars stood out for the Magpies club, including the MOTM winner Joelinton, Captain Guimaraes, and Nick Pope, others required some time to kick in their best form. However, talking about the positive side, the comeback of one particular player has been significantly impressive for Howe's side.

Not to forget, last fixture match winner Joelinton was once on the verge of leaving the Magpies club; however, one decision changed the Brazilian's fate altogether. Being on the sidelines during the majority of the last PL campaign, doubt was growing over the 28-year-old's future at the club. Even Eddie Howe had admitted at a stage that Joelinton could leave this summer; however, the midfielder penning a long-term deal in April is what has kept him at the club.

Recently, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, also the club's representative, cited his words on Joelinton's key performance in the game against Southampton. Shearer said,

"“He is just a tower and strength in midfield. Everything about him is class; he’s one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. He’s a giant midfielder. He never shies away from wanting the ball, even in really difficult positions.”"

Moreover, the English manager, Howe, had similar words in praise of the Brazilian,

""When he's at his best, I would absolutely hate to play against him. He is physically incredible, and I think you'd have seen that last week—he was at his best physically.""

Further, the Magpies boss was seen mentioning the midfielder's value addition at the heart of the club's midfield. In particular, Howe was seen as much convinced about the player's skill, which helped him score the go-ahead goal for the club. However, adding at the end, Howe mentioned the club's smart decision, due to which Joelinton still adorns the Black and White jersey.

Howe remarked,

"“So, I thought it was a really smart bit of business from the club, but also really smart from Joe, because it took away all the doubt and the speculation, which meant he could just focus on his football again.""

This decision to extend Joelinton's contract could go as one of the most brilliant decisions taken by an English club. Turning the tables, unlike last season, the midfielder certainly has the capabilities to emerge as the best PL midfielder, and this will be the wish of Newcastle fans. Being the stormy midfielder he is, combined with his Brazilian flair, many expectations would be from Joelinton to help the Magpies club in the long season ahead.
