Newcastle United misses out on the Dan Ashworth replacement to a Premier League rival
Newcastle United have missed out on the ideal replacement for Dan Ashworth. Michale Edwards played a pivotal part in the resurgence of Liverpool. But, in 2022, he left Liverpool and Newcastle was exploring options to bring him in as the replacement for Dan Ashworth who was appointed in 2022 as the technical director. Ashworth has done a decent job in his role but when Manchester United came calling, he chose them over Newcastle and is now on gardening leave. Thus, Newcastle had to look for options to replace Ashworth; one name that tempted all Newcastle fans was Michael Edwards. The fans of the Magpies were excited with the prospect of having Michael Edwards as the new technical director of Newcastle. However, as journalist Fabrizio Romano confirms, he chose one of the rivals of the Magpies and decided to become the CEO of a big Premier League club.

In a dramatic turn of events, the former sporting director of Liverpool decided to rejoin them after leaving the club in 2022. Transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano also confirmed this on his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle. He was the man who played a pivotal role in the Liverpool revolution under Jurgen Klopp. After rejoining Liverpool, Michael Edwards said;
"One of the biggest factors in my decision is the commitment to acquire and oversee an additional club."

Newcastle will now be looking at other options to replace Dan Ashworth at the club. Tiago Pinto, the former Roma man is also a consideration for the Magpies. However, Newcastle has to act fast as the summer transfer window is approaching thick and fast.
