Newcastle United have wasted no time in getting involved in the transfer market action. The club has agreed to sign Lloyd Kelly as a free agent once his contract at Bournemouth expires at the end of this month. Additionally, they have made Lewis Hall’s move to St James’ Park permanent by triggering the performance-related criteria in his contract.

As Newcastle looks to spend some extra cash this summer, their main target is Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford. Despite Burnley's relegation, Trafford has been attracting attention from several clubs, and Newcastle is keen to secure his services to strengthen their goalkeeping options.

In addition to Trafford, Newcastle has other names on their radar. One notable target is former Manchester City star Ferran Torres, currently playing for Barcelona. According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle has already made a move for Torres, offering €15 million (£12.6m) plus an additional €5 million (£4.2m) in add-ons. However, this bid has been described as ‘ridiculous’ behind the scenes at Camp Nou, as Barcelona paid over £55 million for Torres when they signed him from Man City in January 2022.

Ferran Torres is a versatile winger who contributed 11 goals and four assists in all competitions last season for Barcelona, even though he did not always start. His ability to play in multiple attacking positions makes him an attractive option for Newcastle as they aim to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Newcastle’s proactive approach in the transfer market shows their ambition to compete at the highest level. Securing Lloyd Kelly and making Lewis Hall’s move permanent are significant steps in strengthening their squad. Kelly, with his Premier League experience, and Hall, with his potential, will both add depth and quality to the team.

James Trafford’s potential signing would address a key position for Newcastle, ensuring they have a reliable goalkeeper as they aim to improve their defensive record. Meanwhile, the pursuit of Ferran Torres indicates Newcastle’s intent to add creativity and goal-scoring ability to their attack.

The club’s fans will be excited to see these new signings and potential arrivals in action. Newcastle United’s management is working hard to build a competitive team capable of challenging for higher positions in the Premier League and making a mark in European competitions.
