Unfortunately for fans, the Newcastle transfer news is due to be running thin until the club sells a player or two. This has to be the nature against our will due to the unfair FFP rules which only serve to benefit clubs bigger than ours. Anyway, there's no point fighting the rules, from the club's perspective, a sale is necessary before we can sign the players we need this window.

Due to the vast improvement shown by the squad in recent seasons, the list of options for players who we could sell is very thin. In fact, it would be unfair for Eddie Howe to part ways with anyone in the squad but this is just the way it has to be.

In a recent report published by The Athletic, it's stated that winger Jacob Murphy is high on the list of players who Eddie Howe would sell this month. The attacker is currently out through injury but has made some impressive contributions this season and even achieved Champions League stardom, albeit we did exit in the group stage unfairly.

It would certainly be a shame to lose Jacob Murphy. As a player who has been with us since 2017, he has seen the complete transformation of the club. While it hasn't always been smooth-sailing for Murphy, he has improved a lot under Eddie Howe and showed his commitment to the team after countless loan spells.

However, this may come down to a case of when needs must for Eddie Howe. As great a player Murphy is, he is unfortunately (in this case) a good player in a great bunch. Time will tell if he's the man on the chopping board at St James Park this month.
