Understandably, fans are more interested to hear about Newcastle transfer news which involves players being signed. However, we must prepare for the very real possibility that a player or two may be sold. In an ideal world, we would sign more players without offloading but due to the nature of FFP (like it or not), players must be sold as well as signed.

Newcastle transfer news: PIF could SELL Champions League hero who Eddie Howe "loves"

Unfortunately, it could be a heartbreaking loss for Newcastle fans if reports are to be believed. According to a claim from The Sun, it could be a shock Newcastle exit as PIF are prepared to sell the 27-year-old midfielder Sean Longstaff if the right offer comes in.

Firstly, I must mention the source. The Sun aren't known to be the most reliable place on earth and they aren't everyone's cup of tea, understandably so. However, I can see some credibility in this report, as much as it pains me to say.

Longstaff embodies everything the club is about and being an academy graduate himself, is a fine example for emerging players such as Lewis Miley to look up to. In fact, Eddie Howe personally compared the two, and claimed that Miley must take inspiration from his elder:

"“Sean [Longstaff] has become such a pivotal player for us, and what I love about him is that he’s Newcastle through and through. He lives and breathes everything to do with Newcastle.

I think they’re great characteristics for Lewie [Miley] to retain as well, and I’m sure Lewie will do that with the family he has behind him.”"

I wouldn't like to see Sean Longstaff go as he is entering the prime stages of his career and is playing excellently this season. He's put in some fine shifts in the Champions League and has been great in attacking movements. However, he could bring in some much-needed revenue which is the board's ultimate goal.
