Unsurprisingly, today's focus has been solely on Newcastle transfer news. With no games yet to play until the new year, Eddie Howe has his focus on how he can strengthen the squad when the January transfer window opens. Although the English boss hasn't given much away with regard to his transfer plans, he'd be a fool not to consider who he's bringing in by now.

I trust Eddie Howe and the Newcastle board to make the right decision with regard to transfers. A lot of talk is about the injury crisis at St James Park but nobody understands this crisis better than Eddie Howe, who is forced to work around it on a weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) basis. Therefore, he is in the best position to tackle it tactically.

The biggest concern, in my opinion, should be the signing of a new goalkeeper. The Nick Pope injury really threw a spanner in the works as we approached the halfway point in the season. While Martin Dubravka is an experienced professional and a good backup option to have, if we are to achieve our goal of finishing in the top four, then we need to sign a world-class option.

According to a report by talkSPORT (via Football365), Aaron Ramsdale is open to a move to St James Park, which could accelerate the deal and perhaps encourage Arsenal to sell. FYI, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are not willing to let Ramsdale leave on loan, which is Newcastle's preferred avenue, unless a tempting option to buy is included in the contract.

With EURO 2024 fast approaching, it seems like a no-brainer for Newcastle to bring in Aaron Ramsdale, in a move which would benefit all parties.
