Newcastle transfer news: Magpies make enquiry for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke
By Joel Orme
Newcastle United have made an approach to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke as Eddie Howe ups his search for attacking reinforcements. Solanke has been in top form for his club this season, scoring 12 goals in 19 appearances. Only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland have scored more this season.
It's been well documented how ravaged by injuries Newcastle have been this season, especially in the attack. Callum Wilson is currently injured, and unlikely to return before the end of the month, and Alexander Isak has also struggled with injuries.

Newcastle transfer news: Magpies make enquiry for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke
The Telegraph have reported that Newcastle have enquired about Solanke, but that the Cherries have rejected the approach. However, Solanke and Howe have a good relationship, and Solanke is thought to be keen on the move.
It would be the second time that Solanke would have joined a Howe team, with the current Newcastle boss signing him for Bournemouth for £19m in 2019 from Liverpool. It'll likely cost the Magpies quite a lot more for the striker this time round.
Previous reports claim that Bournemouth will want up to £60m for Solanke, a figure that isn't out of the realm of possibility for Newcastle. However, the Magpies will be hoping to lower the cost due to FFP restrictions, and the amount of players that is on the shortlist at St James Park.
Arsenal are also thought to be keen on the Liverpool youth product, with Mikel Arteta looking for a striker to help lead the line for the Gunners. And in response to that interest, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley told talkSPORT:
"Our door is closed and it's bolted. We're not interested in selling any player."

This will make any approach difficult for Newcastle United, and given the price tag that Bournemouth have slapped on the Englishman, it could be seen as unlikely.
