Eddie Howe is trying to find a way to get a striker in January. However, due to the Financial Fair Play restrictions, it seems an uphill task for the Newcastle board to balance the books and also sign a striker. Things are getting bad to worse for the Magpies as they have reported a loss in their latest financial report. It means that Newcastle cannot afford to sign an expensive striker. This is where this Newcastle transfer news gets interesting because the Newcastle United correspondent for Sky Sports News, Keith Downie, has given Newcastle board a solution to their striker problem.

Newcastle transfer news: Aleksandar Mitrovic to Newcastle

The Newcastle transfer news about Aleksandar Mitrovic to Newcastle is a speculation by Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie who is giving Eddie Howe a solution. He said that Magies couldn't afford to sign a top striker. Thus, they should take help from the Saudi market to get a good striker in. Here is what Keith Downie had to say about this;

"Newcastle don't have £50-60m to go out and buy a Dominic Solanke. That's not a move Newcastle are trying to make but I'd be very surprised if they don't look at the Saudi market."

Going forward, Downie said that Mitrovic might want to return to the Tyneside as he has some unfinished business;

"This is me just speaking but someone like Aleksandar Mitrovic, who used to play for Newcastle and may feel he has unfinished business."

Now, the question would be how Newcastle can afford to have Mitrovic with FPP restrictions lurking behind them. Downie once again gave a solution for that to Eddie Howe;

"Al Hilal and Newcastle have the same owners - that would make sense to me. That's the type of player and deal Newcastle might look at. Someone who can come in and do a job until the end of the season."
