Plenty of the Newcastle transfer news circulating at the moment centres around the Nick Pope injury dilemma. Of course, the English shot-stopper is out for some time due to his shoulder injury picked up in a recent match against Manchester United.

This has resulted in the Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dubravka being called upon but he had an awful display against Spurs at the weekend. Dubravka has plenty of Premier League experience and has been a good servant for us between the sticks in the post, but he's clearly been affected by a lack of game time in recent seasons if that display was anything to go by.

Some Newcastle fans are understandably frustrated with Dubravka's display and some are even turning to Loris Karius, who is our third-choice shot stopper. Karius, who also has great Premier League experience, has been questioned ever since he put in one of the worst displays in Champions League final history for Liverpool, but Newcastle is the place where many come to make a name for themselves and turn their careers around.

Newcastle transfer news: Goalkeeper's partner "hopes" he can move to Italy despite Nick Pope injury dilemma

It looks like Newcastle won't be that magical city for Loris Karius, as he has his eyes set on Italian football. According to a report by Sport Witness which quotes Karius' partner Diletta Leotta, she is hopeful that if he does get a move in the January transfer window, that it will be to Italy, where his family are located.

Karius is a great goalkeeper and an even more likeable guy. It's a shame what happened to him in the Champions League final but having yet to make his first Premier League appearance for us, it's clear the pecking order for Eddie Howe as Dubravka has come straight into replace the injured Pope.

Do you think Loris Karius will move away from Newcastle in the January transfer window?
