Given the injury crisis at St James Park, the January transfer window can't come fast enough for Eddie Howe. The Newcastle transfer news is coming thick and fast at the moment and I have noticed an ongoing theme. We are being linked with more and more attackers, which could reveal the intent behind the Eddie Howe shortlist.

It's no surprise either. The right-wing position is one we've needed to strengthen for some time, but the Jacob Murphy injury has brought that to light. Now we are left with nobody to play in this position except Miguel Almiron, who can be very hit and miss as he struggles to put a run of consistent good performances together.

Newcastle transfer news: Eddie Howe shortlists Miguel Almiron upgrade likened to Angel Di Maria

According to a report by NUFC Blog, there are various reports which link Newcastle with a January move for Matias Soule. The Juventus forward who is currently out on loan at Frosinone is the target of many clubs who wish to take advantage of Juve's financial position which could leave them with no choice but to sell one of their brightest young prospects of the decade.

Matias Soule is a versatile forward who can play as a right-winger or central attacker. This would cover Newcastle on all basis in the attack, since they have Harvey Barnes who will soon return from injury and Alexander Isak who is versatile enough to play on the other flank.

In the linked article, Soule is compared to Angel Di Maria for his immensely technical playing ability. Premier League fans will know that if Soule is even half the player Angel Di Maria is, then Newcastle are in for a treat if they are to sign him. I would certainly be in favour of this deal.
