There has been a major Newcastle transfer news development today, as Eddie Howe has shifted his attention to a breakout Championship star. According to a report by Football Transfers, the Magpies would like to sign Crysencio Summerville, who has taken the Championship by storm with Leeds United this season.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League last season but they are tipped to make a swift return to the English top flight as they currently sit fourth. They have played some excellent attacking football this season, with Summerville one of their breakout stars. The young Dutch winger has contributed with 12 goals and six assists so far this season, which is impressive when you consider he is a natural wide-man.

Summerville mainly operates from the right, but he is no stranger to taking up the left flank either. He would be an excellent January signing as he would provide great competition for Miguel Almiron, who has become a little too comfortable given the injury to his main competitor Jacob Murphy. Summerville would come in and provide that bright young spark which would either kick Almiron up the backside or replace him with better form. It's a win-win situation for Howe, really.

It has already been stated today that Newcastle United won't make reactionary transfers as Eddie Howe would prefer to stick to his long-term vision and not become derailed by injury concerns in his squad. His eyes have been set on Summerville before this report, so it wouldn't surprise me to see the Magpies pursue the 2001-born talent. Certainly, he is playing below his level at the moment.
