I don't think any Newcastle fans tuning into Newcastle transfer news today would've anticipated even reading the name Paulo Dybala. Well, to those people, I must prepare you to brace yourself for this one...

Newcastle transfer news: Eddie Howe makes contact with Paulo Dybala with £11m BARGAIN clause in mind

According to a sensational claim from Corriere della Serra, Newcastle and Aston Villa officials have made contact with Paulo Dybala's team over a potential January transfer. For those who don't know, Geordie Boot Boys has relayed that there is a clause in Paulo Dybala's contract which allows him to leave Roma before January 15 for only £11m, but this can only be activated with the permission of Dybala beforehand.

It goes without saying that £11m is loose change for a player of Dybala's quality. He is in one of the highest calibre of players in Europe and after winning the World Cup, it seems criminal that he can be signed for only £11m. If the opportunity arises, then Eddie Howe will certainly feel required to snatch it up.

It must be said that Dybala isn't the player he was at Juventus, but there's no denying that he is still a pehnomenal asset to Roma. So much so, he has made 13 appearances in Serie A this season, returning five goals and six assists, almost a goal return every appearance which is insane form.

So, while we are still in early days of the dialogue with Paulo Dybala, it has the potential to get exciting in the next few days. I must reiterate that any agreement must be made before Monday 15 Jan 2024 for the clause to be allowed. Therefore, the conversation must play out quickly.
