As we are in the full swing of the January transfer window, fans will hope for less Newcastle transfer news and more transfer action from their club. So far, it has been a case of speculation without action which is more often than not a good thing since the club is analysing their best options. However, given the sincerity of the injury crisis at St James Park, I can understand fans' frustration with the slow-paced nature in the first week of the transfer window.
However, there could soon be movement. According to reports, Newcastle have the Senegalese striker Boulaye Dia on their radar, as they seek a cheap striker option to replace the constantly injured Callum Wilson. Dia, who is currently playing in the Serie A, seems like an ideal option who would certainly suit the fluid attacking system adopted by Eddie Howe at Newcastle.

Newcastle transfer news: Eddie Howe could land "strong" hat-trick hero for just £18m
As quoted by Sport Witness, the transfer expert Carmine Raiola, who specialises in these kinds of deals, had the following to say on Dia and his current situation:
"“A strong player, he makes the team come up for you and makes the team score for you. Everyone remembers the hat-trick against Fiorentina,Carmine Raiola
He wants to leave Salerno. [Salernitana director Walter] Sabatini was clear, the attacker must be sold permanently.”"
The hat-trick which Raiola is referring to came at the tail-end of last season, when Dia scored an immense hat-trick against Serie A giants Fiorentina. He has started this season a little slower, scoring just four Serie A goals in 13 appearances, but there is certainly a gem to be unlocked.
Within the report, it is stated that Newcastle would be expected to pay around £18m for Dia's goal-scoring services, which seems like a bargain price and one Howe would be best-inclined to take up.
