The most recent Newcastle transfer news comes to us from none other than club legend Micky Quinn. The former Magpie turned football pundit has pleaded with Eddie Howe to sign a replacement for the stuggling Miguel Almiron in the January transfer window.

Newcastle transfer news: Club legend says we must replace Miguel Almiron this January

Micky Quinn, who knows a thing or two about what it takes to be a clinical forward, has claimed that Miguel Almiron is far from that. While acknowledging the important goals Almiron has scored with us during his time here, Quinn feels like he doesn't have the killer edge needed to transform the club to new heights.

Here's what Micky Quinn, who made over 100 appearances for Newcastle in the late 80s and early 90s, had to say about the Paraguayan international, via Chronicle Live:

"“Miguel Almiron has scored some good goals, including that unforgettable one at home against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, but he’s inconsistent so I think we should be looking at recruiting a right winger too.”"

I must say, Quinn is right. Oftentimes when club legends speak out against players, it can come from a place of jealousy that they aren't still playing but that isn't the case here. Quinn has every right to speak out against Miguel Almiron's inconsistency since it costs us on a near-weekly basis.

Particularly in the last few weeks, there have been some serious chances wasted by Almiron as he often finds himself in promising positions but less often converts. Some people put it down to Almiron being poor with his week foot but in all honesty, he isn't convincing with his strong foot either.

Almiron is a player I think we should look at replacing in this January transfer window. Of course, we don't have an unlimited budget but if the opportunity arises, Eddie Howe should take Micky Quinn's advice.
