Since joining the Magpies club in 2019, Joelinton has been one of the mainstays in the Newcastle lineup. In fact, with close to around 200 appearances for the club, the 28-year-old has been an integral part of Newcastle over the years. However, recently, the Brazilian star midfielder has expressed his desire, which might disinterest Newcastle fans.

Not to forget, Joelinton was rumored to have a possibility of leaving the club early this summer; however, a deal agreement in time has kept him tied to the club. Being 28 years old, he is set to be a part of the Newcastle setup beyond his contract, which expires in 2028, but the star has made it clear that the Magpies club won't be his last one.

Speaking to the website UOL, Joelinton spoke on his possible retiring destinations,

"“São Paulo was a club that I followed too; it’s a very big club in our football. And I really like Palmeiras too. I have a friend who is a Palmeiras fan, and he says that I’m going to play there. They are two clubs that I have a lot of admiration for.""

Moreover, he indeed expressed his heartfelt desire to end his professional career where it all had started, at Sport. Joelinton mentioned,

"“God willing, one day I hope to return and end my career at Sport, the club where I started.”"

However, even though Joelinton has expressed his desire upon where he wants to retire, it isn't linked to him leaving the Newcastle club any soon. Being just 28, the midfielder still has significant years of professional European football left in him, and currently, there are a few options that could challenge the Brazilian in physicality and strength.

Although it has been a quite hot and cold season for the Brazilian powerhouse, Joelinton hopes to turn things around soon. While he stood excellent in the club's opening fixture against Southampton, Joelinton hasn't been enjoying a smooth time till then. Moreover, with star prodigies like Joe Willock pushing for a place in the squad, it might be difficult for him to be in the club's lineup.
