Newcastle started the Premier League game vs Nottingham Forest well, as they had most possession in the first half and got an early goal. But they went into the break at 1-1, with a disappointing late goal from Chris Wood of all people. Then, in the second half, it all capitulated. Chris Wood scored another not one (but two) more goals, making it a hat-trick on his return to St James Park. The game finished Newcastle 1-3 Nottingham Forest, an embarrassing result and performance. Here are the Newcastle player ratings vs Nottingham Forest...

Newcastle player ratings vs Nottingham Forest
GK: Martin Dubravka - 5.5/10. In the first half, it didn't look like he'd have much to do. Truthfully, he wasn't at fault for any of the goals as his defenders let him down. Still, conceding three goals as the goalkeeper limits your rating in these Newcastle player ratings.
RB: Kieran Trippier - 6/10. Started the game well which will do wonders for his confidence. Although, his luck didn't repeat into his own defensive half. Still, it was an improvement from Trippier.
CB: Sven Botman - 5.5/10. Botman had a few wayward passes and he wasn't at his best today. He was caught offguard by Chris Wood of all people who made some good runs in behind. Not a great day at the office for Botman, but he wasn't the worst defender out there today.
SUB: Lewis Hall - N/A. Was good to get a runout but he came on too late to warrant a fair rating.
CB: Fabian Schar - 5.5/10. Had more luck in the opposition's half than his own. As great as it is to have Fabian Schar fit consistently, it looks like fatigue may be setting in, which is understandable.
LB: Dan Burn - 4/10. It was a complete mismatch against Elanga and it shown on a few occasions. Dan Burn is an exceptional defender, but he couldn't keep up with Elanga's sheer pace. Then in the second half he was turned by Chris Wood, probably his worst performance for us. Deservedly, he came off soon after the second goal.
SUB: Tino Livramento - 6.5/10. Ended up playing Chris Wood onside for his hat-trick goal. Wasn't a great introduction for the youngster, but he did come on at a bad point in the game and his other attacking contributions bolster his rating. I'd start him in the next match.
