Newcastle United had a disappointing outing against Luton Town at St James' Park as they shared a point with the Hatters. It was an eight-goal thriller for the fans. However, a win for the Magpies would have been better for their European aspirations next season. Longstaff, Trippier, and the returning Harvey Barnes got amongst the scoresheet. But, it was a defensive debacle for the Magpies as they led the game twice to concede four goals. So, how did Newcastle players fare in this game? Here are the Newcastle player ratings vs Luton Town in their 4-4 draw in the Premier League.

Newcastle player ratings vs Luton Town – Premier League

Newcastle player ratings: Defence

GK: Martin Dubravka (5/10) – He didn't have a great game as he conceded four goals. But, none of them could be blamed on him apart from the first goal where he could have done a bit better. His save in the final minutes of the game helped Newcastle to salvage a draw. Dubravka will be looking to improve his game in the next game.

RB: Kieran Tripper (7/10) – Undoubtedly, he is a talisman for the Magpies as he looked solid in the back as well as going forward. Scored an important goal when the chips were down for Newcastle. He showed that he is a proper leader in this team.

CB: Fabian Schar (4.5/10) – The Swiss international is a perfect example of how times can change and football can be a funny game at times. Scored a brace in the last game against Villa and was the man of the match. But, he should take responsibility for the defensive failure of Newcastle.

CB: Sven Botman (4.5/10) – Never looked comfortable during set pieces and was short on pace at times. The Dutch international will not be proud of his performance especially when the game is at St. James' Park. His performance will be a concern for Eddie Howe.

LB: Dan Burn (3.5/10) – Without any doubt, Dan Burn was the weak link in Newcastle's defence. He was getting caught out a lot and Alimiron was also there to help him out. That is why Eddie Howe had to sub him off in the 64th minute.

  • SUB: Tino Livramento (5/10) – He came on for Dan Burn and looked better than him. However, he did get caught out at times and could have done better. However, Livramento can claim to be a starter after how Dan Burn performed in this game.
