Newcastle player ratings: Midfield

CM: Sean Longstaff (7.5/10) - Newcastle's midfield in this game was brilliant and Longstaff played a very important role in this one. Towards the end of the game when Villa started playing, he struggled a bit. However, he could have got a goal in this game only denied by Emiliano Martinez.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes (8/10) - Without any doubt, Bruno Guimaraes is the best player for Newcastle hands down. The energy levels of Bruno is fantastic. He showed why he is almost untouchable for the Magpies. He is always the focal point whenever Newcastle does well on the pitch.

CM: Lewis Miley (7.5/10) - Arguably, the best performance so far from the 17-year-old Newcastle academy product who recently signed a new long-term deal with the club. He ran his heart out on the pitch and that's why he was tired and Eddie Howe had to sub him off.

  • SUB: Tino Livramento (7/10) - Eddie Howe brought him on around the 75th-minute mark and he calmed things down when Villa took charge of the game. So, overall, it was a very important cameo from the 21-year-old that got the Magpies over the line.
