Newcastle player ratings: Defence
GK: Martin Dubravka (7/10) – A brilliant performance from the Newcastle goalkeeper even though he didn't have much to do in the game. In the second half, he had to make some good saves. Overall, it was a performance that Dubravka should remember fondly.
RB: Kieran Tripper (7/10) – It looks like Trippier is back at his best once again and showed why Bayern wanted to sign him as their right-back. His immaculate crossing in this game is commendable. Trippier dominated Moreno in this game.
CB: Fabian Schar (8.5/10) – The Swiss international will fondly remember this game for a long time as he could have had a hattrick. However, he did get a brace and for a defender to get that is simply outstanding. Fabian Schar is the man of the match without any doubt.
CB: Sven Botman (7.5/10) – The Dutch defender looked calm and composed throughout the game. When Leon Bailey came onto the pitch, he had a bit of trouble. Overall, he looked rock solid and looks like the Sven Botman of the last since is finally coming back.
LB: Dan Burn (7/10) – After a long time, it looks like Dan Durn used his long legs to good effect as he was making tackles and interceptions. He schooled Cash many times, however, Leon Bailey gave him some trouble. Burn did get caught out during Villa's goal.
