The Newcastle injury news hasn't been kind to Eddie Howe this season, but none more so than the Joelinton injury luck. The Brazil international has been in and out of the squad with inconsistent fitness concerns, which is not only a detriment to Newcastle since he's one of our best players, but also the Brazil international team.

Newcastle injury news: Joelinton injury woes continue as he could miss rest of season

According to reports in Brazil, they may be missing their versatile star until the end of the season, which would also come as a big blow to Eddie Howe. This is because Joelinton may require surgery to fix a recurring issue, requiring around four months to recover from.

Eddie Howe has commented on the Joelinton injury, while praising one of his star players. "We have no one immediately coming back for us but no one like Joelinton. You're never going to get a like-for-like replacement, he is our midfield driving force physically. We've got no one like him."

Eddie Howe is right in that Joelinton is our driving force. In recent weeks, we have missed his ability to carry the ball with menace and purpose and in many ways, this has been a detriment to our attack. There is certainly a clear link between Joelinton being in the starting eleven and free-flowing attacking movements and unfortunately, we tend to notice this more when he's our of the squad.

However, I do understand the benefit of putting Joelinton through surgery. If we have to pay a sacrifice this season and get him back to full fitness next season, where he will hopefully be back to his best and in the starting eleven more frequently, then this is a reality we must accept.
