Newcastle injury news: Howe hints Alexander Isak may benefit from Anthony Gordon injury
By Kian Long
Newcastle United travel to the South of England to face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road this Saturday. The Magpies can't climb the table from this match but it could put them in a much better position to end the year on a high if other results go their way too. Speaking ahead of this fixture, Eddie Howe has addressed some key Newcastle injury news.
Newcastle injury news: Howe hints Alexander Isak may benefit from Anthony Gordon injury
Reported by Chronicle Live, Eddie Howe made an interesting comment about Alexander Isak and his return from injury. Quoted on the website, Eddie Howe said this:
""But [Isak]'s not 100 per cent fit, and I want to try to get him 100 per cent if physically possible. But with the further injuries we’ve had, I don’t know if that will be the case.""
- Eddie Howe
By "further injuries" I assume that Eddie Howe means Anthony Gordon. The Englishman is yet to be ruled out of the upcoming Premier League match against Luton Town, but he's certainly a doubt after he was subbed off in midweek. As the only player left who can cover in this position, I'm taking an educated guess that Howe is referring to playing Isak out wide to cover Anthony Gordon.
At least, this is what I went for with my predicted Newcastle lineup vs Luton. It is looking likely to be a front three of Almiron on the right, Wilson through the centre and Isak on the left. This would give Eddie Howe an advantage because Almiron would have two players in the box for Almiron to cross into, while Isak has the technical ability to play on the left.
If the Anthony Gordon injury is declared not serious, then this could be redundant. But at the moment, considering this as the likely front three isn't a bad idea for Eddie Howe.
