Unfortunately, there has been some awful Newcastle injury news of late, as one of our most important players is ruled out for the rest of the year. If you don't already know, the Nick Pope injury has rocked our world and unfortunately, he is another player suffering a long-term spell out of the starting eleven due to his shoulder injury.
The problem occured at the weekend as we beat Manchester United. Although it was an exceptional result which saw us overtake our second rivals in the Premier League table, the result was overshadowed by an unfortunate injury late in the match.
Nick Pope went down and was subbed off the backup goalkeeper Martin Dubravka; It was later confirmed that Pope had suffered a shoulder problem and further examination ruled the England international out for the rest of the year.

Newcastle injury news: Eddie Howe sticks by cult hero amid the bad Nick Pope injury
This raises eyebrows for the January transfer window, as many believe we should sign a goalkeeper to replace Nick Pope, who is getting on a bit anyway. While this is likely the plan of action for the Magpies, for the time being Eddie Howe has sided with Dubravka.
There is no need to be worried as Martin Dubravka has plenty of experience at the top level. In many ways, we should be thankful that we have an experienced professional like Dubravka to call upon. In total, Dubravka has made 130 league appearances for us, in both his permanent and loan spell.
Quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Eddie Howe had some positive things to say about his new called upon goalkeeper...
""We really believe in Martin Dubravka — I've always had that high opinion of him. Martin is a high class goalkeeper""Eddie Howe
Do you think we should rely on Martin Dubravka, or sign a new goalkeeper in January?
