If you're like me, you will be frantically hoping for Newcastle injury news ahead of the AC Milan clash on Wednesday night. We did our best to dissect the team news in our Newcastle vs AC Milan preview, but to be truthful, Eddie Howe doesn't give much away with his players. This works to our advantage, of course, since rival teams find it difficult to predict Howe's game plan.

Newcastle injury news: Eddie Howe makes Sean Longstaff injury claim ahead of AC Milan

Speaking out about the important Champions League fixture with AC Milan in midweek, Eddie Howe has offered an update on the situation of Sean Longstaff. The important and unique midfielder made his comeback from injury at the weekend against Spurs in one of the few bright moments of the match from our perspective.

Quoted by the Northern Echo, Eddie Howe had the following to say on Sean Longstaff and his teammate Callum Wilson, who also got a cameo against Spurs at the weekend.

"“I think they’ll be better for today – it was a good 30 minutes for [Longstaff and Wilson] – but we’ll have to take it game by game and it’s a difficult one to predict what role they could play on Wednesday.”"

Howe is right to praise the substitution cameo for Longstaff and Wilson. They're two very important players for us and their comeback from injury will be HUGE in this busy December schedule. The last thing Howe would want, though, is to rush them into making a full return as worsening their injury won't be a good look.

I do think Sean Longstaff will start in midweek, though, but he could easily be subbed off at half-time if Howe is feeling cautious.
