Unfortunately, there has been no positive Newcastle injury news involving Harvey Barnes. Eddie Howe had a lot to say about some of the players nearing their full return to match fitness, which is great to see, but when he was asked about the Harvey Barnes injury, his response was short and telling.

The English winger has been missing in action for what seems like an eternity now. Unfortunately, the former Leicester City man hasn't had the best start to his time up North but it's though no fault of his own or the club's. While the medical team will be wishing to get him back in the speediest time-frame possible, they'll know better than to rush his recovery, through fear of further injury to Barnes.

Newcastle injury news: Eddie Howe issues Harvey Barnes injury update and motivates Lewis Hall

As per NUFC Blog, Eddie Howe issued the following update on Harvey Barnes injury situation...

""No, not currently. He (Barnes) is not one of the closest players (to returning).”"
Eddie Howe

I guess it doesn't come as much of a surprise. When Barnes initially became injured, we knew it was a serious one. It's his first injury in a Newcastle jersey, so it's difficult to tell what his former recovery has been like but due to the nature of the injury, we can expect he'll be out for another while yet.

Also in the same presser, Eddie Howe commented on why Lewis Hall hasn't been getting many minutes, with many fans claiming that he should be involved in the necessary squad rotation. To which, Howe replied by saying there are strong players ahead of Hall in the pecking order but used this as motivation for the loanee.

"“I think Tino Livramento has been excellent at left-back. And Kieran’s got his obvious qualities at right-back. That would be the reason. Lewis, when he comes on, has to perform well.”"
Eddie Howe
