While the Newcastle injury news hasn't been kind to Eddie Howe in the last few weeks, he will hope that the remainder of January is kinder to him. But, if news of a potential Bruno Guimaraes injury concern is anything to go by, then he isn't getting his wish.

Newcastle injury news: Bruno Guimaraes injury is one of two concerns for Eddie Howe

Indeed, there have been some circulating stories that Eddie Howe has suffered a Bruno Guimaraes injury setback, with the Brazil international rumoured to have played through a hamstring injury in his last Premier League meeting with Manchester City. In the end, Newcastle lost the match heartbreakingly in injury time, but it was an injury to Bruno G which made the headlines following the match.

It remains to be seen whether or not Bruno G will be fit for our next match which thankfully comes not this weekend, but the weekend after. Therefore, the Brazil international has plenty of time to rest, which could serve him well as Howe hopes his star player will heal.

But even if Bruno does return to action in time for Saturday January 27, he is walking on a thin tightrope. See, the loss against Man City saw the Brazilian midfielder pick up a yellow card, which was his ninth of the season. As per the rules outlined by NUFC Blog, he could face a two-game suspension if he is issued another yellow card before the 32nd game of the season.

While two games might not seem like much, depending on when they fall, it could be detrimental to our league standings. Given the type of player Bruno is and what he offers to the team, I really wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up another booking.
