Newcastle United has been to a decent start, with 7 points against their name. In the four fixtures so far, the club ranks 5th on the Premier League table. With the Premier League action set to return soon, as the international break nears its end, the club would have a cluster of matchdays coming forward. Having their first game against Wolves on Sunday, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has given key insights about the team.

Not to forget, the Magpies club is currently one of the most injury-inflicted squads in Europe, with stars like Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Joe Willock, and Calum Wilson out. While the center-back duo of Botman and Lascelles have negligible chances of returning in a month, Howe has updated about the concerns about Willock and Calum Wilson.

Howe had positive reports for Willock, saying,

"“We have seen him in training this week, albeit not full training, but he’s been with the group so positive for sure.”"

As mentioned, Willock, who looked exquisite in his return against Nottingham in the EFL Cup, has been training and thus might return soon. However, the manager seemed a bit concerned about Calum Wilson's recovery, stating he has gotten a bit behind where they expected him to be.

Howe remarked,

"“He hasn’t had a setback, but he’s a little bit behind where we wanted him to be. Hopefully in the coming weeks, he will be back, but it’s not a long-term problem.”"

Clearly, for the time being, it looks like Wilson's return is some weeks away. But, with stars like Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, and the returning superstar, Sandro Tonali, there doesn't seem much worry. Howe again had special words for Tonali, who, after helping the club win against Tottenham, has been showing his potential for Italy.

Howe exclaimed,

"“Yeah, I was pleased to see him play first. So great for Sandro. It’s the first few weeks back, and we’re delighted he’s available.”"

For the Magpies club, the first challenge upfront would be the Wolves, and with some key players, Sandro Tonali, Alexander Isak, and Gordon, coming better than before, the club would want to have the complete 3 points. Newcastle fans would hope that the club continues their before-break momentum, remaining unbeaten and fancying their chances for a top-4 finish.
