Manchester City joins the race to sign Newcastle target next summer
Newcastle United wanted to sign a top-class defender this summer. Unfortunately, the move for Marc Guehi was unsuccessful. And, this could be seen as a failure of Paul Mitchell. That is why Eddie Howe has to cope with the squad he had last summer.
Now, Newcastle might go back for Marc Guehi next summer. But, pursuing the Crystal Palace man will get tougher for the Magpies. Next year, the reigning 4-time Premier League champions, Manchester City, might look to go for him, as per the Sun.

Manchester City to sign Newcastle target next summer
The prospect of joining one of the most successful clubs in recent years could be too much for Marc Guehi. That is why Newcastle could end up losing their targeted centre-back. However, dealing with the Palace will not be easy for the Citizens. And, the Magpies know about this better than any other club.
Newcastle were desperate to sign Guehi this summer. But, Palace wanted a huge fee which was impossible for the Magpies to pay. A similar thing can happen to Man City. Palace will charge a premium price for Guehi, there is no doubt about it.

But, things can change if Guehi decides not to extend his contract at Palace. His contract with Palace ends in 2026. So, Palace will have one year in their hands to either sell him or extend his contract. They will look at the latter option to sell Guehi at an exponential price.
Yet, if Guehi decides not to extend his deal with Palace, then the Eagles will have to sell him at a lower price which can benefit Manchester City. Newcastle are expected to go back for Guehi. But, signing him next year will be tougher for the Magpies.
