Dan Ashworth is a name which creeps up a lot for Newcastle United fans. Unfortunately, one of the best football directors in the business was forced into gardening leave by Newcastle United after he made his intentions clear that he would like to join Manchester United. The whole situation is messed up and to be truthful, it is the most utter disrespect from United's minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Dan Ashworth saga takes new turn as Manchester United approach Newcastle co-owner

In an attempt to iron out the creases and sort out this mess of a situation, Sir Ratcliffe has already met with Newcastle United's co-owner Amanda Staveley. It is thought that the meeting was held to resolve the Dan Ashworth situation, as per an exclusive story from The Times.

Needless to say, Ashworth will not be a popular figure at Newcastle United but Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be looked on far more sourly. Described as an "embarrassment" from The Mag, Ratcliffe has unfortunatelty tarnished the reputation of Manchester United already, by trying to make his own rules and dictate how situations like this pan out.

The Times' report does suggest that the talks are ongoing between Newcastle United co-owner Stavely and United minority shareholder Ratcliffe. Whether or not anything comes from this discourse remains to be seen but it is certain that Newcastle United have the power to dictate this situation, not United.

From the fans' perspective, Newcastle higher-ups owe NO loyalty to Manchester United. Given how much the Manchester club has disrespected Newcastle, it would be fair to make this Ashworth saga pan out as much as possible, allowing Man United to shell out as much money as possible.

After all, this is nothing they aren't used to given the state of some of their biggest signings in recent history.
