Newcastle team news

How long have you got? Half of the Newcastle squad is out injured and that has been the case for most of the season, unfortunately. Today's Newcastle team news comes courtesy of Shields Gazette.

Most recently, Miguel Almiron was added to the treatment table as he came off the pitch against West Ham United. He is close to a return, but it won't be in this match.

Nick Pope has been missing from action for a long time as far as Newcastle are concerned and he is expected back before the end of the season. However, he won't play in this match.

Kieran Trippier has missed just over a month of action and while he is close to a return, is looking closer to the Sheffield United match before he returns to action. He is ruled out of this match.

Not much has been said about Matt Targett, with the defender missing in the last few matches. It could be a race against time for his return but his chances of starting this match are slim, regardless.

Lewis Miley unfortunately had his season cut-short and he is not expected to make a miraculous recovery for this match.

Joelinton will miss this match, having undergone surgery earlier in the season.

Joe Willock is also expected to miss the remainder of the season, so he will not start.

Sven Botman is also missing for the rest of the season and so is his defensive partner, Jamaal Lascelles.

Of course, Sandro Tonali is suspended so he is not in contention for this match.

Finally, though, some good news. Callum Wilson is expected to be in contention, after he recently returned to training after a lengthy injury lay-off.
