Newcastle United want to sign a new forward in this transfer window to improve their attack. Eddie Howe's side want another forward to complete a world class front three alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon. Therefore, the Magpies were interested in signing their former player Ivan Toney.
Toney joined Newcastle United in 2015 and made a total of four appearances for the Magpies before joining Peterborough in 2018. There he scored 49 goals in two seasons which led Brentford to sign him in 2020 ahead of the new Championship season. Toney scored an impressive 31 goals and provided ten assists in that season, which helped Brentford achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Playing in the Premier League in three seasons, Ivan Toney scored 36 goals and provided eleven assists in 83 appearances for Brentford. His impressive performances have attracted interest from several Premier League teams like Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspurs as well. Further, Toney even featured for England as they reached the final in the UEFA Euro 2024. Now, according to Sky Sports, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Brentford forward Ivan Toney in this transfer window.
Chelsea want to sign a new forward and thus are interested in signing Toney. Toney is 28-years-old and will be available on a free transfer next year, thus, Brentford want to sell the centre forward for £50 million in this summer transfer window. Newcastle United should try to sign Toney alongside a centre back to bolster their ambitions of a top four finish in the Premier League this season. Also, Eddie Howe's side will face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup in the next match.
