This would certainly be the easiest transfer to pull off, since the Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is still a free agent. His contract terminated at Manchester United in the summer, leaving one of the best Premier League goalkeepers of all time without a club for the last half a year.

Bringing David de Gea to St James Park has been discussed internally at length already. It seems the board is keen to bring David de Gea back to the Premier League, which has certainly been fuelled by the unfortunate Nick Pope injury.

Much like Kalvin Phillips, David de Gea brings with him a similar story and that is one of a Premier League experienced player who is seeking another progression story at a new club. Newcastle could be the place for both players to make those dreams come true.
