Coming on the back of a brilliant display against Pep's Manchester City, much was expected for the Magpies club, but they failed to get the complete 3 points at Goodison Park. While they didn't enter the fixture being the clear favorites, Eddie Howe's side would be disappointed to return with a single point from the fixture.

Although the club's midfield prowess looked quite efficient, with Captain Guimaraes and ace midfield star Joelinton living up to their roles,  the unit looked terrible in finishing chances. Out of the 14 shots they took, only 3 of them were on target, out of which the biggest one was wing star Gordon's spot kick.

While the club's attack force was at fault, the Everton trip once again turned out to be a nightmare for Toon star Anthony Gordon. Firstly, missing out on the club's most brilliant opportunity of the game, as he filed to convert the penalty against his former club, Gordon looked quite mediocre, losing out on key chances in the fixture.

Given Gordon's stature in the Premier League, such a terrible performance is what is least expected from the English international. However, being the club man he is, Gordon was wise enough to take the blame for missing out on the brilliant penalty opportunity, which could have given them the complete 3 points.

Writing after the fixture, Gordon conveyed,

"“A great performance; I just couldn’t put them away, and that’s on me. Never easy missing, but you’ll never ever see me shy away from stepping up for my team. Thanks to everyone that traveled—till next time.”"

As mentioned, the 23-year-old star has acknowledged his poor display in the game while applauding the club fans for their support. With the goalless draw against Everton, Newcastle United lost the opportunity to go neck to neck with Chelsea and Aston Villa on 14 points. However, the club would want to return stronger than ever after the October international break.

Given Eddie Howe's positive updates on star forwards Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson's recovery, the Magpies stand a brilliant opportunity to have a nearly full-strength squad available after the break. Newcastle fans would hope that the club improvises on their weak links, continuing their top-4 PL finish dream with full intensity.
