Newcastle United have made their seventh signing of the Summer transfer window as they have confirmed the signing of 24-year-old Nico Gonzalez, who has joined from Manchester City for a fee of £47M+3 (as Keith Downie first reported), he will wear the No.6 shirt.

Gonzalez fell out of favour at Manchester City after signing with the Cityzens back in February 2025, making 59 appearances for the club. Gonzalez only made two appearances in the Premier League last season, coming on for 11 minutes in the Community Shield against Arsenal, and earlier this month as well.

Gonzalez has been in search of more game time, aiming to break into the Senior Spain squad. With Enzo Maresca having his own ideas on players and new incomings, his future had become uncertain.

A Statement signing for Newcastle

A Statement signing for Newcastle, who have had a summer of departures, particularly in midfield, with exits of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. Now, whilst the Magpies have made signings in midfield, including Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba, the need for Premier League experience has been vital for the club.

Adding a player of calibre, such as Gonzalez, not only reinforces the idea that Newcastle's project isn't going anywhere but also that they can still attract high-quality players.
