Newcastle United have made it clear that they’re not letting go of their star winger without a serious fight.
As clubs begin planning for the summer transfer window, the Magpies are already facing interest in one of their most important players.
According to iNews, a few Premier League sides have been watching closely, waiting to see if Newcastle will open the door to a big-money sale.
And while the club doesn’t want to lose any key players, Financial Fair Play pressures mean tough decisions could lie ahead. If Newcastle are forced to cash in, they will demand a premium.
Sources say the club have slapped an £80 million price tag on the player in question. That would nearly double what Newcastle paid when they signed him from Everton in January 2023.
He arrived as a promising but raw talent. Since then, he’s grown into a major force in Eddie Howe’s side, delivering 12 goals and 16 assists in the 2023–24 season.
His pace, work rate, and ability to play on both wings have made him a nightmare for defenders.
However, this season hasn’t gone exactly to plan. A dip in form has seen him go without a goal or assist in the Premier League since January.
Still, rival clubs aren’t too concerned. They believe his talent and potential remain sky-high.
Arsenal are believed to be the most interested, with Mikel Arteta keen to bring in a winger who can compete with Martinelli and provide backup for Bukayo Saka.
Two other unnamed Premier League clubs are also keeping tabs.
But unless someone is ready to meet Newcastle’s steep asking price, a deal looks unlikely.

The player everyone wants? Anthony Gordon.
Newcastle see him as a key part of their future—but if they must sell one big name to meet financial rules, Gordon’s value could make him the one to go.
For now, though, the message from St James’ Park is simple: if you want him, prepare to pay top dollar.
