Newcastle United could be about to crash Chelsea’s summer plans.
With the transfer window approaching, the Magpies are once again looking at ways to strengthen their squad, not just for now, but for the long-term future.
And while most fans expect defensive additions or another striker, it seems Eddie Howe has another area in mind too.
Newcastle have had flashes of brilliance from Anthony Gordon and bursts of energy from Miguel Harvey Barnes.
But behind them, the options have been thin, especially with injuries taking their toll throughout the season.
So, the club is now scanning the market for a young, fast, and fearless wide man who can bring competition and maybe even a spark to the front line.
It just so happens that one highly-rated talent from the Bundesliga is now firmly on Newcastle’s radar.
He’s 20 years old, exciting on the ball, and already making waves in Germany.
And while Chelsea were considered the front-runners to bring him back to England, CaughtOffside reports that Newcastle have jumped into the race with real intent.
Newcastle United ready to hijack primary Chelsea transfer target
That player is Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. Currently at Borussia Dortmund, Bynoe-Gittens is no stranger to English football.
He’s had spells at Manchester City’s academy and even Chelsea before moving to Germany, where he's started to make a name for himself.
With his contract running until 2028, it won’t be a cheap deal, but Newcastle believe they can offer a clear pathway and the right environment to help him grow.
He could be part of a new wave of attacking options at St James’ Park offering pace, creativity, and depth in key moments.
If the Magpies can pull this off, it wouldn’t just be a smart signing. It would also be a major statement showing they can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Chelsea in the transfer market.
