Newcastle United’s summer transfer plans are starting to heat up and this time, it could be a big one.

Eddie Howe’s side are looking to add real quality in key positions, especially in defence, after a successful season where the Magpies not only won a trophy in 70 years but also qualified for the Champions League.

While young talents are always welcome at St. James’ Park, the club also knows they need proven winners if they’re serious about pushing for European football again. That’s why Newcastle’s latest move is turning a few heads.

According to Calciomercato, a high-profile defender from Serie A is now weighing his future, and the Magpies have already made contact.

A massive offer has already been accepted by his club with Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia agreed to pay around €35 million to sign him.

But here’s the twist: the player isn’t sold on leaving Europe just yet, even though he’s been offered a huge salary worth €20 million per year. That hesitation could be Newcastle’s chance.

The player in question is Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman, who helped AC Milan win the Serie A title, is now deciding whether to stay in Europe or take the big payday.

Newcastle and Atletico Madrid are both trying to convince him that the best football is still here in Europe and that he can keep playing at the highest level.

Hernandez is known for his speed, strength, and ability to drive forward from the left-back position.

He’s also played in big matches and brings serious experience to the table. For Newcastle, landing a player of his quality would be a major statement.

It won’t be an easy deal to pull off, but if Theo Hernandez chooses football over money, Newcastle could end up with one of the best left-backs in Europe.
