Newcastle United are not standing still this summer. After a rollercoaster season where the Magpies lifted a trophy in 70 years and qualified for the Champions League, Eddie Howe and the club’s board know it’s time to strengthen key areas especially in attack.
They want to add pace, experience, and creativity to their forward line, and they’ve already looked at several exciting names.
Bryan Mbeumo was one of the first players they tried to bring in. But with the Brentford star leaning toward a move to Manchester United instead, Newcastle are now focusing on other options.
And this next one is a way bigger name than Mbeumo.
Newcastle United eye blockbuster move for Bayern Munich star
According to TBR Football, Newcastle United are now showing serious interest in a player with a winning pedigree and top-level experience.
He’s lifted league titles in France, Italy, and Germany. He’s played and won the Champions League. And now, with his club open to selling, the Magpies could be about to pull off a blockbuster signing. That player is Kingsley Coman.
Bayern Munich are ready to sell the French international for around £29 million, as he has just two years left on his contract.
At 28, Coman is still in his prime and brings lightning pace, skill, and Champions League experience to the table. But it wouldn’t be a simple deal.
Kingsley Coman is reportedly on £247,000 per week at Bayern, far more than what Newcastle’s current top earner, Bruno Guimaraes, makes.
That would create a new wage benchmark at the club, and it’s something the board will have to think carefully about.
Still, if Newcastle want to break into the top four again and push for silverware, bold moves like this may be what it takes.
Coman’s injury record and modest goal numbers might raise some eyebrows, but there’s no doubt about his talent.
And if Eddie Howe believes he can get the best out of him, it could turn out to be a brilliant signing.
