Newcastle United's start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign has neither been disappointing nor convincing. While the club occupies the seventh position, having 12 points from seven games, they have been brilliant on very few opportunities, being rather sloppy on others. However, manager Eddie Howe would want that to change as they face an impressive Brighton after the international break.
Newcastle's forward duo returns against Brighton but star veteran becomes unavailable
Returning on the back of an awful performance against Everton at Goodison Park, being extremely poor in the final third, the Magpies club would want to change scenarios as they return home. Fortunately, the recent reports on the injury recoveries of the club's superstar forward duo find significantly in Magpies' club's favor.
As per reports from the Daily Mail, both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson look in a favorable position to be available against Brighton. The report further mentions that although the players were returning from broken toe and hamstring injuries recently, they both are expected to train ahead of the fixture at the club grounds.
For Newcastle United, having had one of the worst goal-scoring stats this season, Isak and Wilson's return would be the much-needed boost they have been waiting for. In the game against Everton, the club's poor forward display had cost them two valuable points. With Isak's return to playing Xi, not only would Eddie Howe have his lineup strengthened upfront, but also give Gordon the freedom to return to his conventional wing role.
However, while definitely, the recovery updates of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson sound significant in Newcastle's favor, the club would be without one of its veteran stars against Brighton. Kieran Trippier, a 34-year-old veteran right-back, would miss their home upcoming game, as he looks to be out for weeks, sustaining a hamstring injury against Everton.
Thus, Tino Livramento would have to hold the responsibilities in the right-back role as the Magpies club host Brighton. Overall, though star forwards Isak and Callum Wilson return, Trippier's absence could be pivotal for the club. Newcastle fans would hope that they register their 4th PL win, going to 15 points after the much-awaited Brighton matchday.
