Newcastle United's 2024/25 season has been a composite of two extremes. While the club has been brilliant, giving flashes of their best level at times, the side has been rather sloppy on other matchdays. Although they have 12 points from the seven matchdays in PL, the Tyneside club is on a winless streak of 3 games, indicating their inconsistent form this season.
Newcastle's 21-year-old defensive prodigy named in England's Nation League squad
However, while for some of the club's big names, the season start has been rather forgettable, some Toon prodigies have been quite impressive so far. One such case has been of 21-year-old youngster Tino Livramento, who was initially brought in as the backup for veteran Kieran Trippier, but has been quite solid in rotation with the veteran star, at the right-back role.
Marking crucial contributions in all seven Premier League matchdays this season, the prodigy full-back has been giving Trippier a tough competition for a place in the starting XI. Having already impressed the Magpies board and staff with his presence on the right flank, it seems that the player is set to take the next step in his career.
Tino Livramento, despite being called up for national duty last month, hadn't gotten playing minutes for England. However, being included in the 26-member England squad list in the last minutes, after Kobbie Mainoo, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Ezri Konsa had to be replaced due to injuries, the prodigy might be close to marking his international debut this time.
Given Lee Carsley's England side possesses some of the best quality right-backs in Europe, with Trent Alexander Arnold and Kyle Walker, Livramento's inclusion shows his deservedness in the squad list. As per schedule, the Three Lions, currently in the 2nd position in their group, would face Greece and Finland in the Nations League during the break.
Considering the squad strength England has, they stand as the favorites in both the fixtures, and with Livramento getting some minutes in either of them, it could be a major boost for the youngster. Magpies fans would hope for the same, as they wish the 21-year-old prodigy goes on to lead the role, both for Newcastle United and England, in the future.
