Newcastle ready to let star player leave in January
Newcastle transfer news - The Magpies are ready to let their start goalkeeper leave in January. As per reports, Martin Dubravka might head to Arsenal.
Newcastle United are preparing to let Martin Dubravka leave the club during the January transfer window. The Slovakian goalkeeper’s current contract ends in the summer of 2025, and the club will not offer him a new deal.
Dubravka has been a reliable player for Newcastle since joining in 2018. However, with the arrival of Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest, there is no space for the veteran goalkeeper in the squad. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe now has five goalkeepers to choose from, reducing Dubravka’s chances of game time.

According to iNews, Newcastle were open to selling Dubravka last summer, but no deal was reached. The club is now ready to consider offers during the upcoming January transfer window.
Newcastle ready to let star player leave in January
Dubravka joined Newcastle on loan from Sparta Prague in January 2018. His performances during that loan spell convinced Newcastle to make the move permanent the following summer.
The 35-year-old has played 164 matches for Newcastle and kept 47 clean sheets during his time at the club. He was a key player in helping Newcastle retain their Premier League status when he first joined.
Despite his contributions, Dubravka has struggled to secure regular game time in recent seasons. He became the second-choice goalkeeper after Nick Pope signed from Burnley two years ago. Last season, Dubravka stepped up when Pope was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Since Pope’s return in May, Dubravka has only featured once for the Magpies. This lack of opportunities has made a move away from St James’ Park more likely for the experienced goalkeeper.

Reports suggest that Arsenal showed interest in Dubravka during the summer. However, it remains unclear how much Newcastle will demand for the 35-year-old in January. His age, contract situation, and current squad role suggest the fee will not be significant.
Dubravka will be looking for a new club to continue his career as he approaches its final stages. A move away from Newcastle could provide him with the chance to play more regularly.
Newcastle’s decision to part ways with Dubravka marks the end of an important chapter in his career. The Slovakian goalkeeper will be remembered for his key contributions during his time on Tyneside.
