This is a day that all Newcastle United fans will never forget. Newcastle finally won a domestic trophy after 70 years. Yes, we defeated the mighty Liverpool to clinch the Carabao Cup for the first time in the history of this amazing club.

Dan Burn and Alexander Isak were among the scorers for the Magpies and Chiesa scored for the Reds towards the end of the game as the match finished with the scoreline Liverpool 1-2 Newcastle. Liverpool tried hard to get back in the game but we were always a step ahead of Arne Slot’s men. There is no doubt Eddie Howe tactically outclassed Arne Slot in this final.

Nick Pope did concede late in the game. But, throughout the game, he was calm and played a good game.

RB: Kieran Trippier (7/10)

Trippier was a calming figure in the Newcastle backline. He had a good game. He was moving forward and also stayed calm when Liverpool attacked.

CB: Fabian Schar (6/10)

Fabian Schar also had a good game. He was solid defensively and strong to prevent Liverpool from creating good chances.

CB: Dan Burn (8/10)

Dan Burn scored a crucial goal that gave the Magpies the lead. Also, he played a good as the centre-back which is not his usual position.

LB: Tino Livramento (7/10)

As the left-back for Newcastle, Tino had a wonderful game. He has the crucial job of keeping Salah quiet and he did that brilliantly.

CM: Joelinton (7.5/10)

Joelinton was a livewire in the midfield for Newcastle. He showed courage in his tackles and was one of the key leaders for the Magpies.

CM: Sandro Tonali (7/10)

The Italian international played a great game and was solid when going forward as well as ending Liverpool's attacks from the midfield.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes (7/10)

Bruno Guimaraes was also amazing in the midfield for Newcastle. He showed courage throughout the game and played a crucial role for the Magpies throughout the game.

LW: Harvey Barnes (6/10)

Did Harvey Barnes do enough to make his place permanent as the left-winger? Probably not but he did enough to ensure Newcastle get the trophy they wanted for so long.

ST: Alexander Isak (9/10)

The star of the show is surely Alexander Isak. The Swedish international scored the winner for the Magpies. It will be one of the most memorable goals of his career so far.

RW: Jacob Murphy (7/10)

Jacob Murphy has been fantastic from the right. He was running for his life and that is the kind of spirit that helped Newcastle lift the Carabao Cup for the very first time.

SUB: Callum Wilson (6/10) - Isak 81’

Eddie Howe brought on Wilson as he wanted to manage Isak's workload. And, the English international did a decent job.

SUB: Joe Willock (6/10) - Barnes 81’

Willock came on to replace Barnes and he also did well while operating from the left as well as holding the ball to waste time towards the end of the game.

SUB: Emil Krafth (NA/10) - Murphy 90’

Eddie Howe brought on Emil Krafth to strengthen Newcastle's defence. He did well for the limited time he got on the pitch.
