Newcastle United will travel to face West Ham in the Premier League. After that game, Eddie Howe's men will travel to Wembley Stadium to take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. But, before these two important games, his team suffered a huge setback.
Anthony Gordon is one of the most important players for Newcastle United this season. But, Eddie Howe is set to miss his key player as Anthony Gordon will be suspended for the next three games following his red card against Brighton in the FA Cup tie.
Newcastle news - Eddie Howe backs Harvey Barnes to replace Anthony Gordon.
While speaking to reporters (via Newcastle World), Eddie Howe said that he has found the ideal replacement for Anthony Gordon in Harvey Barnes. He said;
"He (Barnes) is another player who just returned from injury. It’s great to see him back because we’ve really suffered with a lack of options in the wide areas. Harvey’s return has been a massive lift for everybody. You can see on Sunday that he’s still working his way back to those very best sharpness levels. He’s very fit but there’s that lack of game time. He’s a huge player, one that’s always got goals (and is) very creative. We really like Harvey. He’s been unfortunate that Anthony has been in such good form but we certainly back him and I know he can make the difference."Eddie Howe, Newcastle Manager
Newcastle spent £38million to sign Harvey Barnes. But, he has been out of action since December. It is time for Barnes to step up if he wants to have a long and successful career wearing a Newcastle shirt and Eddie Howe will back him to deliver for sure.
